Train 4 The Game Vertical Core Seminar
Train 4 The Game (T4TG) is nationally recognized as an elite rehab, sports performance, and overall fitness facility. In a highly anticipated three-day seminar, T4TG is opening its doors to allow fitness and rehab professionals to experience for themselves the amazing benefits of “Vertical Core” training. Join T4TG’s “Vertical Core” seminar as the Team of elite coaches demonstrate how to incorporate these revolutionary training techniques into your fitness or therapy program.
Everyone trains for their own game - from high-level and recreational sports to the game of life -seeking to look, feel and perform better in his or her own walk of life. Build and enhance your training programs with techniques that enable the body to move more efficiently, powerfully and pain-free during activities performed in both sports and everyday life. Discover how “Vertical Core” training techniques are applied to achieve results, such as:
- Superior sports performance
- Highly effective rehabilitation
- Greater overall fitness
Designed for trainers, physical therapists, and coaches who want to apply T4TG’s ground-breaking training techniques to their fitness and therapy programs, the “Vertical Core” seminar will include three days of dynamic lectures and practical sessions presented by the T4TG Team. Highlighting the elements of 3D function and demonstrating effective movement techniques and exercises, you will come away with the knowledge and tools to create custom programs that address the true-to-life needs of your clients, patients, and athletes.
Introduction to 3D function
Life happens in 3D! Why not train in 3D? 3D refers to the fact that all of our muscles, bones and joints (skeletomuscular system) are designed to move in three planes of motion: forward and backward (sagittal plane), side-to-side (frontal plane), and rotationally (transverse plane). T4TG enhances training by creating personal fitness programs that are grounded in reality, addressing real-life needs with real-life movements. For an athlete to achieve full potential, he or she must be able to meet the movement demands of the sport he or she plays. For a low back pain sufferer to regain optimal function, he or she must improve his or her body’s ability to move properly in everyday activities. The “Vertical Core” seminar will demonstrate how training the body in true-to-life environments (on your feet and moving in three planes of motion) maximizes performance, optimizes function, and reduces the risk of injury.
Key topics in 3D function will include:
-
Ground Reaction - The human body is designed to create and transmit the forces of the ground in the best possible way. To accomplish this task, all the body’s muscles must work and fire together in a sequential order. Whether it’s preparing the body to hit a ball or reaching down to pick up a child, if there is any weak link in the chain, the transmission of forces will be suboptimal and inefficient, and other parts of the body will be forced to compensate by taking on more work. In this section, you will learn the significance of ground reaction forces and training techniques that optimize the body for transmitting the force of the ground in the most efficient, effective and powerful ways possible.
-
Momentum - Big, hypertrophied muscles alone won’t provide power and speed. To optimize these qualities, an individual must learn to properly use their body’s momentum. We use momentum in sports and in our daily movements, but, for some reason, most training programs don’t incorporate or capitalize on the significance of including momentum in their training. Effectively harnessing momentum allows the body to easily make directional changes while in motion. In this section, you will learn techniques that enable the body to efficiently load its muscles to harness momentum for greater power, speed and injury prevention.
-
Pattern Recognition - All movements (from walking to top-ten highlights) are chain reactions that take place in the body. Every sport has a set toolbox of actions, and every motion has correct patterns the body should follow. Understanding the patterns of the task at hand help the body move properly. In this section, you will learn how to analyze and evaluate the movement patterns of your clients and athletes in their given activities, and how pattern recognition is used to train and retrain the body to move properly.
-
Transformational Zones (TZ) - Essentially snapshots of movement. This is when the body transfers its muscular loading to muscular exploding, and it depends on understanding of how to “celerate” -both decelerate and accelerate. For example, swinging a baseball bat requires loading up to prepare for the swing, exploding during the swing, and then loading to slow down the force of the swing. In this section, you will learn about Transformational Zones, how to better understand the TZs of your clients and athletes, and techniques for training the body to powerfully and efficiently transfer muscular loading to muscular exploding.
Locomotion and Movement Acquisition
There is a proper pattern to all movement and motor programs that the human body is designed to follow. Limiting factors—such as poor posture, underused, tight and weak muscles, and brain injuries—can cause the body to deviate from these natural patterns, leading to a lack of control over movement. By understanding the different factors involved in how the body is propelled, effective movements can be learned or re-learned through pattern recognition. The “Vertical Core” seminar will teach you how to utilize the principles of Locomotion and Movement Acquisition to train and re-train the body to understand and implement efficient motor programs automatically.
Key topics in Locomotion and Movement Acquisition will include:
-
Sequencing - To kick a ball or climb up a flight of stairs, all the muscles in the body must work together and fire in a sequential order. When something breaks down in the chain reaction, movement not only becomes inefficient, but also creates the potential to cause both technical and physical problems. In this section, you will gain a better understanding of how movement traverses through the body and learn how sequencing creates more powerful, efficient, and pain-free movements.
-
Efficiency - The less energy exerted while performing a skill or task, the more efficient the movement. Mobility (the right amount of flexibility) plays a major role in enabling an individual to maintain effective and efficient movement during execution of the task at hand. In this section, you will learn techniques that decrease the body’s internal resistance to allow efficient movement.
-
Understanding the role of the foot - As the first link in the chain, the foot is the most important factor in determining how the body moves. There are 26 bones in each foot, and there are 206 bones in the entire human body. That means that a quarter of all your bones are in your feet! As Todd Wright would say, “If the foot wasn’t that important, it would just be one big bone!” Most movements start with the feet interacting with the ground, and each body segment must transfer energy efficiently to the next, starting from the ground up. When limiting factors are present in the foot, every movement will deviate from its natural sequence and the body will not load optimally. In this section, you will learn how correcting problems in the foot opens up a different world of performance and relief.
-
Proprioceptive Re-Education - Proprioceptors are “sensors” found in muscles, tendons, and joints that detect the motion or position of the body within space, the speed of movement and the force transmitted through the body. These sensors respond to pressure, stretch and tension and play a key role in preventing the muscle from being stretched and loaded beyond its sticking point. The effectiveness of proprioceptors can be reduced by a number of factors, including injury. In this section, you will learn how techniques, such as balance training, can be utilized to re-train proprioceptors to understand and recognize movement patterns.
Exercise Prescription and Analysis
3D function is the foundation of all movement. For an athlete to have speed, power and agility, he or she must first be able to move efficiently in three planes of motion. The “Vertical Core” seminar will provide you with the knowledge and tools to evaluate your clients, players, or patients’ limiting factors and prescribe an infinite number of exercises that allow them to control and enhance their movements, pain-free and in 3D. Come away with the skills to enhance your training and therapy services with custom programs that train the body to automatically do the right thing.
Key topics in Exercise and Prescription Analysis will include:
-
Limiting Factors - Even something as trivial as a big toe not bending properly (i.e., hallux dorsiflexion) can cause major problems in other parts of the body. In this section, learn how to analyze symptoms to uncover the true cause of problems. Also, learn how to expose limiting factors before they cause the body to break down.
-
Task Tweaking - There are an infinite number of ways to move. In order to perfect a sport skill or accomplish lifting a weight without pain, motion can be tweaked to meet the needs of the individual performing it. In this section, learn how to break down movements and change them with custom exercises created by you.
